Welcome to Marilyn Wells Art Journal — a gathering place for reflections on art, poetry, memory, imagination, and the creative life.
Rather than traditional commentary, this journal unfolds as the story of a creative life — with paintings, poems, memories, teaching experiences, questions, and unexpected teachers appearing along the way.
I am an American artist, teacher, writer, and longtime explorer of the inner life of art. My creative life has been shaped by Colorado’s spacious landscapes, by formative years in Canada, and by a lifelong conversation with painting, poetry, music, meditation, and the quiet discoveries of the studio.
Some entries may begin with a painting. Others may begin with a line of poetry, a memory, a conversation, a question, or a moment of attention — inspiration, symbols, landscapes, dreams, thresholds, and the many ways a creative life continues to unfold.
My hope is that these reflections invite you to slow down, look more deeply, and enter the conversation that art can open.
